Q&A… Travel Blogger edition

Hey everyone, sorry that this post is late, I was out celebrating my birthday yesterday and wanted to celebrate with my family and friends without any distractions. Recently I asked for questions on two of my Instagram posts for my Q&A and you sent in a lot, so I thought I’d answer them for you today in as much detail as possible! Thanks to everyone who sent in questions, I’d love to do a second Q&A in the future so if you have any questions comment them down below. Let’s get into the questions!

How did you become a full time traveller?

How did you turned this into a full time business?

How do you make an income travelling?

I’m not a full time traveller and this isn’t a full time business (yet!) Although it is my ultimate dream, and I’m so looking forward to the day I hopefully get to call it my job! However, I am very lucky in the sense that I do get to travel a lot! I am currently studying and get lots of breaks and holidays so I get to focus on travelling and running this business. But I’ll definitely update this answer if I do become a full time traveller in the near future!

Have you ever been told you weren’t allowed to photograph in a place?

Yes! I have and it’s really annoying but you always have to respect the culture and importance of the location you are not allowed to photograph. There is always a reason why you’re not allowed to photograph so be sure you check out their website before you go to know all of the regulations! There are always special licences you can obtain before you go, if there’s a place you really want to photograph on a commercial level. Just contact the place beforehand and they will be happy to help you!

Do you create “business hours” for yourself or only blog when you are inspired?

A bit of both! I like to spend around an hour a day on my business as a whole at the moment, although I’m definitely hoping to do more soon! I usually work on my blog from 5pm till 6pm daily!

If you had to settle somewhere tomorrow, where would it be?

Vienna, Austria!!

What inspired you to become an influencer?

I want to bring the world to people who can’t see certain locations from themselves! I think it’s so important that everyone gets to experience the world, whether it’s for themselves or through someone else’s photos and words! I just want to make a difference in the world and share my photography with the world! The community is always great too, I love feeling part of a big picture!

What’s your favourite spot you’ve been to for a rural adventure?

Scotney Castle! I only visited yesterday but fell in love with its many acres of parkland, woodland and of course the cattle grazing fields! As well as the actual castle itself, I mean I think this photo just speaks for itself how gorgeous this location is!

How many countries have you visited?

7 countries so far!

What’s your favourite country?

It has to be Austria! I absolutely love every part of the country I’ve explored so far and fell in love as soon as I stepped off the plane! It’s just all so beautiful and there are so many more places I’d like to explore!

Where do you really want to go most?

New York! And I’m so excited to announce that I am actually lucky enough to be visiting for 6 days later in the year! I’m so excited to share the beauty of NYC with you all as well as providing detailed itineraries that you can all follow too!

What do you like most and least about being a blogger?

I love the community most, all of the amazing comments make all the hard work worth it and makes me feel really good! The blogging community is so kind and helpful and all of the support is just incredible! The thing I like least about being a blogger is simply just when I see people in the community wanting to give up, I really want people to know to never give up!

How do you find time to dedicate to your blog/Instagram?

How do you balance your personal and work life?

I guess because I love it so much it’s really easy to find the time because I’m motivated! However sometimes it is a real struggle to find time when study gets busy! I just try to find as much time as possible! Travelling is also a massive part of both my personal and work life which makes the two overlap and become much more enjoyable! I love to travel so it makes everything so easy!

Favourite and least favourite place you’ve travelled to?

Favourite – Vienna, Austria!

Least favourite – Madeira

Do blogger based blogs still have a chance to make it, or are .com’s better?

Of course! It’s all about the style of writing and the personality that shines through – anyone can do it no matter what tools you use!

How do you travel on a budget?

Planning and booking in advance! Also, use price comparison sites for hotels, flights and transfers! You can often get online discounts for certain trips and be sure to choose which restaurants you want to go to before you get there based on taste and price otherwise you may end up feeling pressured by waiters and paying a lot more money!

How to increase engagement on your blog?

How do you balance the art of writing with the marketing of it, e.g. social media?

I have a blog post all about these questions where I go into details and specifics! Read it here: How to grow your business in 2019

What made you decide to start?

I had so many photos from my travels and I was visiting so many locations that I wanted to share with people. So one day I just decided to start, spontaneously and I’ve never looked back! It’s the best decision I’ve ever made and I urge you to start if you’re considering it!

What motivates you in doing your job?

The comments on my Instagram and blog posts make everything worth it, even something as simple as “I love this” makes me feel insanely happy and motivates me to keep going even when things get tough.

What do you do when you’re lacking in ideas?

Take inspiration from nature and write things down in a journal at other occasions when you have inspiration so you can refer to it later! (or use Pinterest!!)

Is it an easy job?

No way! There are lots of challenges and a lot of different aspects that you have to work on and all to a strict timing so you don’t let people down!

Happy Birthday 🥳. I worked with a young lady years ago that was visiting from Vienna, the stories she shared and description she gave of Vienna by it sound like a wonderful place to visit. I can understand your attachment to the place with all it’s history, architecture and the amazing landscapes.

I love reading Q&As, I like getting to know bloggers better and I particularly like that this is focused on you as a travel blogger! I agree with your best and worst things about blogging, I hate seeing people wanting to give up when they’re really talented! I love that photo from Austria too.

It was more that I didn’t like the area of Madeira I chose to visit, it was far too many steep hills with not a lot to do or visit! I’d like to return and visit a better area in the future

I love this idea. Maybe I will try it for my blog someday. Great questions and perfect answers. We were in Europe in the 90’s with a group of friends. Several of them went to Austria, I did not. They all said that it was their favorite place, I have wanted to go since but haven’t made it yet. Some day!

It’s awesome idea to explain people about blogging. People aske me some of this questions about blogging life. Do you use any auto scheduled app or software to save time from social media marketing?

An interesting blog post, thank you for sharing your thoughts and plans. I don’t blame you for loving Vienna, it is a great city and it is perfect for exploring on a bicycle. I have also found places where no photographs are allowed and it can be frustrating but there is usually a reason. I have found some venues that charge a small amount for photography and I think that is fair.

What a great way to get to know the person behind the blog! Great post and I can imagine how gorgeous that castle is in person. Austria has always sounded beautiful to me, too (#bucketlist) ~ and New York City is quite the place visit (been there a handful of times).

I’m sad to see that Madeira is your least favorite place you’ve visited because it is high on my bucket list and I’m hoping to visit in the Fall! What about it didn’t you like?
