2018 Roundup + Goals for 2019

Hey everyone, as the year draws to a close I would like to take the time in this post to reflect on the good and bad aspects of it. I would also like to take the chance to set myself some goals for the year ahead in order to make 2019 the best it can be.

I would like to take the chance to first of all thank everyone who has supported me since September when I started my Blogging journey. The support and love I have been shown has been incredible since day 1 and I am eternally grateful for the people who have accepted me into their community, my followers from day 1 and all of you out there who read my blog posts. When I started in September I didn’t really know what to expect – the community was already so large and I felt overwhelmed at the thought of trying to break through into the niche and make myself known.

My advice for anyone out there aspiring to be a blogger, or anyone in the first month or two of their journey has to be – keep going and never give up! There are going to be days when you feel like nothing is going right, you may get no blog reads in a day, you may have a blog post due and no creativity in that moment or you may have an issue with your social media engagement. But I promise you this is normal, there are always going to be lows but trust me when I say that the highs and achievements are so worth it! You always have the potential to be something incredible – so don’t give up!

Invest as much of your time and your money into your venture as you can, but if that isn’t a lot then don’t let it get you down – as long as you’re passionate and believe in yourself then that will show through your writing and photography and people will believe in you too. Once you start to get established you’ll find there are a lot more highs than lows – I’m starting to enter that phase now and it took a lot of hard work to get here but gosh it feels so good! So stick at it, and if you ever need advice, feedback or any promotion just let me know – I’m more than happy to help out because I know just how difficult it can be when you first start up!

It’s always good to analyse your mistakes, or not so good days to learn from them and move on. For example, I only got a couple of readers on my blog on Boxing day and was really quite low about it until I realised that it’s just one day out of so so many and it doesn’t matter at all – traffic was never really going to be high over the Christmas few days because it’s a time for family and friends. Once I’d analysed the day I felt so much better about it and went to bed with the attitude that tomorrow is another day! I got rewarded for this as the 27th was one of my highest traffic days I’ve ever seen! My message here is that the sunshine always follows a storm, so be rational about the “mistake” and move on to bigger and better things!!

Whilst it is good to look at mistakes – it’s even better to look at your achievements! I’m going to share some of my achievements here to look back on a whirlwind few months for me! I’d love to hear some of your successes – let me know in the comments!

  • I hit over 1000 followers on my Instagram and Twitter!
  • I reached over 50 followers on my Blog!
  • I completed both Blogtober and Blogmas!
  • I have received loads of incredible comments and support about my writing and my photography! I love you all!
  • A couple of Blogging days were particularly successful when I hit over 100 views!

Now I am going to set myself some goals for 2019 and there will be another roundup post this time next year where we can all see whether I completed them! Again, I want to hear your goals for 2019 – let me know down in the comments!

  • I would like to reach 5,000 followers on Instagram.
  • I hope to get to 4,000 followers on Twitter (it’s definitely a harder platform to grow on!)
  • I’d like 150 followers on my blog and just continue to grow steadily across all of my online platforms.
  • I hope to work with some brands and other people this year as well as some other potential projects.
  • I would like to work towards making my Blog my full time career by starting to monetise it and make it more full time.
  • Finally, in the beginning of the new year I am planning a re brand of my blog!! More on this coming soon so stay tuned across all my social media!!

So this is it, my final Blog post for 2018! I hope you all have a safe and wonderful NYE wherever you are in the world and a prosperous 2019! I look forward to sharing my journey with you as I continue to grow and travel! 2019 is going to be a great year and I hope you all will join me!

Many thanks and Happy New Year!

– Katie

So exciting to see your growth!! And I couldn’t agree more… when blogging, NEVER GIVE UP! I always keep in mind WHY I started blogging in the first place…. almost a decade ago and it was to “journal out loud.” When I keep that in mind, everything flows A LOT smoother! Happy 2019!

Pretty awesome goals for 2019! I wish you all the luck! Love how you advise new bloggers to “Just Keep Going!” This is even for “vets” too cause there are always funky days in any job, especially blogging!

How exciting! I was one of those who fizzled the first time. I had paid for the entire year of hosting so after 10 months, I decided to give it another go. Now, 56 posts later, my little blog has been viewed 14,149 times. It’s not a lot for some people, but for me with 211 views the first year, this second year has been incredible. To put it in perspective. Today is January 4, and already I have 399 views for 2019.

Congratulations on starting your blog, it can be a tough challenge, but it is so rewarding. I’ve been blogging on and off since 2015, but now I am dedicated to it, I wouldn’t go back.xx

Well done on meeting all your targets! That’s so amazing – I bet you’re buzzing. I’m a baby blogger and so I’m in a similar situation to you – but the community has been nothing but lovely. Keep it up and I can’t wait to follow you!
