Blogmas day 3: A guide to festive short breaks

Hi and welcome to Blogmas day 3! Today I’m going to be talking about my guide to festive short breaks! They are so amazing and quaint especially at this time of year no matter where you go and I would really recommend getting away with your loved ones or solo this Christmas! Here are some tips to help your Christmas adventure go as smoothly as possible!

First of all you have to separate why you want to go on this festive break. Are you looking for a romantic getaway? A family mini-break? Or just a solo travel adventure? Whatever your reason is you have to make sure you book the perfect break tailored to your needs. For example if you’re looking for a romantic getaway you need somewhere with romantic vibes and beautiful scenery and atmosphere. Or if you’re looking for a family getaway you need somewhere family friendly and places with lots to do!

You also need to book anything you need in advance, it’s crucial to getting the best price – especially if you’re on a budget! Use flight and hotel comparison sites for the best prices on the same hotel and make sure you shop around on different airlines and consider flying from different airports to start your holiday! Make sure you pack the right clothes for the place you have chosen! I know it sounds obvious but check the weather before you go and pack appropriately for the conditions! Especially if you’re packing for snow, you need thick clothing and hats and gloves and scarves etc.

There are so many beautiful places in the world, you just have to be willing to explore different places all out of your comfort zone! Try new places and don’t be afraid, just be sure to check values like safety and any travel requirements you need and then hop on that plane and just explore!

If you’re heading out on a romantic getaway you need to try out Switzerland! Being in the snow in a gently lit town or village in the mountains is the perfect choice and I would really recommend it, here is some photography inspiration for you!

Fab tips, I would love to go away this time of the year so reading this was helpful. Switzerland in December would be a dream, the best way to get yourself in the mood for Christmas. I can just imagine myself now sitting by the fire with a hot chocolate looking out the window at pretty views, the dream!! xx

I’d love to go one short winter breaks to places like Lapland, Iceland and Switzerland but working I retail means I don’t get the have holidays from November to January so no winter breaks. I’m hoping that one day in the future though that I’ll be able to do a winter break and experience what winter is like in other countries and maybe see other festivities too.
